Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the essence” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَا كَانَ مَوْضُوعًا فِي أَصْلِ الْجَوْهَرِ،
and whatever is rooted in the very essence,
الْجَوْهَرِ — the essence. This is the possessed second half of 'the root of the essence', so it carries the (genitive) ending and supplies the definiteness for the whole pairing through its al-. The two nouns side by side build 'the root of the essence' with no separate 'of' word. It pins the rootedness to the very core being discussed.
