Arabic vocabulary
How to say “speak to him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَمْ تَكَلَّمْهُ الدُّنْيَا، وَلَمْ يُطْغِهِ الْهَوَى
The world did not speak to him, nor did desire overpower him.
تَكَلَّمْهُ — speak to him. This verb sits in the clipped (jussive) form demanded by the 'did not' particle before it, and tacked onto its end is -hu, the 'him' object. So one word carries the verb, the negation-shaped ending, and the object pronoun. The negation word is what dictates the verb's trimmed ending.
