Arabic vocabulary
How to say “spoke to him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَتَعَرَّضَتْ لَهُ اِمْرَأَةٌ وَكََلَّمَتْهُ فَأَبَى،
Then a woman approached him and spoke to him, then he refused.
وَكََلَّمَتْهُ — and spoke to him. Here wa- chains a second action onto the woman's approach -- she came AND spoke -- and the '-hu' on the tail is the one spoken to. The verb's doubled middle marks the deliberate 'address/speak-to' pattern, and its '-at' keeps the doer feminine.
