Arabic vocabulary
How to say “stars” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وظهرت من التخوم كالنجوم الزهر،
And they appeared from the depths like shining stars,
النُّجُومِ — the stars. This noun carries 'the' to make it definite and takes the ending forced on it by the comparison particle attached before it. That ending is the signal that this word is the thing being likened to, not an independent actor in the sentence.
