How to say “tense” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَانَتْ الْأَجْوَاءَ بَيْنَ الشِّيْعَةِ وَالسُّنَّةِ المَشْحُونَةَ،
And the atmosphere between the Shi'a and the Sunnis was tense.
المَشْحُونَةَ — tense. A passive participle used as an adjective, 'charged/tense', the description the 'was' verb assigns; it carries the object-style predicate case. Built on the 'has been done to it' pattern, it casts the atmosphere as something loaded with tension.
