Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the author” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ المُؤَلِّفُ
The author said.
الْمُؤلف — the author. This noun is the doer of the saying, and it follows its verb rather than preceding it, which is the normal word order in Arabic storytelling. The al- on the front marks it as definite, a specific known author rather than just any author. Because it is the subject, it sits in the plain naming case that Arabic uses for whoever performs the action.
