How to say “the path” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَاحْذَرْ أَنْ تَتَبَّعَ سَبِيلَ أَحَدِ رَجُلَيْنِ
And beware that you follow the path of either of two men:
سبيلَ — the path. A noun standing as the object of the verb before it, used figuratively for a way of conduct rather than a road. It opens an 'of' pairing with the word that follows, drawing its definiteness from that owner and giving up its own.
From: Guidance for the Seeker →فَخَلَّيْتُ سَبِيلَهُ
So I let him go.
سَبِيلَهُ — his way. A noun with an attached 'his' pronoun, no 'the' needed since the possessor makes it definite, and an ending marking it as the direct object. Literally 'his way', but joined to the release verb it is the set idiom for letting a person go free.
