How to say “the story” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ الْقِصَّةَ
So he recounted the story to him.
الْقِصَّةَ — the story. A definite noun with 'al-' (the), in the object form as what was recounted. The article marks it as the specific tale of his trouble. Its object ending shows it is what the verb 'told' acts on.
From: Luqman's Wisdom and Trial →فَقَصَّتَا عَلَيْهِ الْقِصَّةَ
Then the two women told him the story.
الْقِصَّة — the story. The al- marks this as the definite, specific story. It is the thing told, the direct receiver of the verb's action, so it sits in the case Arabic gives to the object being acted upon. That object case is shown by the short vowel on its ending.
