Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they suppose” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَفَيَظُنُّ الَّذِي يُحَارِبُنِي أَنْ يَقُومَ لِي؟
Does the one who fights me think he can stand up to me?
أَفَيَظُنُّ — does he think. This stacks a question-marker and a connector onto a verb: it turns the statement into a rhetorical question, 'does he then think?', and the verb is present with a singular 'he' subject built in. The question-marker is the grammar to notice, signalling that no real answer is expected. So one word asks and states at once.
