How to say “to move / to proceed / to creep” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيُكْتَبُ عَمَّنْ دَرَجَ وَدَبَّ ،
And it will be written about one who walked and crawled,
وَدُبٍّ — and crawled. The connector wa- adds a second verb to the first, building the merism 'walked and crawled' to mean the whole of a life. This wa- simply pairs the two acts; the verb is a past form, and the doubling of consonant marks its root, not extra grammar.
