وَخَرِبَتْ دِيَارُهُمْ
And their homes were ruined.
وَخَرِبَتْ — and were ruined. A coordinating wa- ('and') on a past-tense verb in its feminine shape, agreeing as singular-feminine with the non-human plural subject that follows. The wa- chains the ruin onto the prior loss.
