Arabic vocabulary
How to say “what a difference” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَشْتَانَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا
How vast the difference between them is.
فَشْتَانَ — so what a difference. The front 'fa-' draws the conclusion ('so'), and the rest is a frozen exclamation-word that means 'how vast the difference!'. It is not a normal verb or noun but a fixed expression of wonder, here marveling at the gulf between the two things just compared.
