How to say “absence” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَبِثَ عَنْيِ فَأَطَالَ اللُّبْثَ،
So he stayed away from me and prolonged his absence.
اللُّبْثَ — the absence. A definite verbal noun, 'the staying/the lingering', in the set object form as the thing he prolonged. It names the action itself turned into a noun, the object of 'he made long'.
