Arabic vocabulary
How to say “ambitions” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَحْتَقِرُ هِمَمَ الْطُّلَّابِ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ
I hold the students' ambitions in contempt, and praise be to God.
همم — ambitions. A plural noun serving as the object of the contempt verb, and it heads an 'of' pairing with the following noun: 'the ambitions of the students'. As the first member it leans on that owner and drops its own 'the', taking the object form here. The two nouns side by side build the 'of' link.
