How to say “and he departed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ الْحَقُّ وَمَضَى فَتَبِعْتُهُ،
He spoke the truth and departed, so I followed him.
وَمَضَى — and he departed. This opens with the bare connector 'and', joining a second past verb 'departed' to the first; the 'he' is built into the verb. The 'and' coordinates the two actions as one continuous move. The verb comes from a weak-final root, whose last letter reshapes the ending.
