How to say “and sound reason” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
خَالَفُوا فِيهِ الرُّسُلَ وَالْعُقُولَ اِتِّبَاعًا لِأَهْوَائِهِمْ
They opposed the messengers and sound reason in that, following their desires.
وَالْعُقُولُ — and sound reason. A wa- 'and' fused to a definite plural noun 'the minds/sound reason', coordinating a second object of 'opposed' with 'the messengers' before it. It shares the object-style ending. The wa- links the two things they went against, revelation and reason.
