How to say “and they differed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاِخْتَلَفُوا فِي الْعَقَائِدِ وَالْأَفْعَالِ اِخْتِلَافًا
And they differed greatly in beliefs and in actions.
وَاِخْتَلَفُوا — and they differed. A sentence-starting wa- 'and' fused to a past verb in a derived 'differ-among-themselves' pattern shaped for 'they'. The wa- joins the clause on; the plural 'they' lives in the verb's ending. It states a further action of the group.
