Arabic vocabulary
How to say “are equal” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ الرَّجُلَيْنِ لَا يَسْتَوِيَانِ فِي أَعْمَالِ الْبِرِّ
And indeed, the two men are not equal in deeds of righteousness,
يَسْتَوِيَانِ — are equal. This is a present-tense verb with a DUAL subject ('the two of them') folded into its ending, a form English lacks. With the preceding negation it reads 'the two are not equal'. The dual ending matches the dual subject named before.
