Arabic vocabulary
How to say “ate” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَكَلَتْ حَوَّاءُ عَنْ قَوْلِهَا وَأَطْعَمَتْ آدَمَ،
Eve ate because of the serpent's words, and she fed Adam.
فَأَكَلَتْ — so she ate. 'Fa-' opens this as the result of the serpent's deception, 'so', attaching to a past verb. The verb 'ate' carries its 'she' subject in its feminine ending; 'fa-' marks the eating as the consequence of what was just described.
