How to say “bickering” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَكِنْ اِشْتَغَلَ بِمُهَاوْشَتِهِ عَنِ الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ،
But he was so occupied with his bickering that he was kept from the first row.
بِمُهَاوْشَتِهِ — with his bickering. The bi- here marks what occupied the man ('busied with his squabbling'); it is the link this verb of being-occupied takes. The noun it rides is a verbal noun ('quarrelling') carrying -hu ('his'), so bi- governs that whole possessed action-noun into the genitive. One unit carries 'with his bickering'.
