أَوَّلِ — beginning. A noun heading a possessive pairing with 'the chapter' after it: 'the beginning of the chapter'. It gives up its own 'the' and takes definiteness from the owner that follows; its genitive ending comes from the preposition before it.

أَوَّلِهَا — its beginning. A noun with the 'its' ending attached, pointing back to the verse as the thing that has a beginning. Governed by the preposition before it, the noun sits in the genitive, and the feminine suffix tracks the verse rather than any nearer word.
From: The Verse of the Throne →وَلَكِنْ اِشْتَغَلَ بِمُهَاوْشَتِهِ عَنِ الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ،

الْأَوَّلِ — the first. An ordinal 'first', describing 'the row' before it and agreeing with it as a definite genitive. The shared al- locks the adjective to its noun, and the matching case shows they belong together. So 'the first row'.

أَوَّلِ — beginning. This noun is governed by the preposition just before it, so it takes the 'of' (genitive) ending. It then heads its own possessive pairing with the noun that follows, meaning 'the beginning of...', where the second noun names what is begun and gives this word its definiteness.
