Arabic vocabulary
How to say “buy” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ يَدْخُلُ السُّوقَ لِيَشْتَرِيَ بِهِ،
then he enters the market to buy with it,
لِيَشْتَرِيَ — to buy. The front prefix is a 'to/in order to' particle that does real grammatical work: it pulls the verb out of its plain present into a special 'aim' shape, signaling purpose. So the buying is the goal of entering, not something already happening.
