Arabic vocabulary
How to say “called” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَانَ يُصَلِّي، فَجَاءَتْهُ أُمُّهُ فَدَعَتْهُ،
He was praying, then his mother came to him and called him.
فَدَعَتْهُ — then called him. Same forward-moving fa- as before, but here it strings a SECOND action right after the first arrival -- she came and then called -- and the -hu on the end is the one called. The verb's '-at' ending also quietly marks the doer as feminine ('she').
