Arabic vocabulary
How to say “carry” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَرَأَى عُمَرُ رَجُلًا يَحْمِلُ أُمَّهُ،
And Umar saw a man carrying his mother,
يَحْمِلُ — he is carrying. This is a present-shape verb opening a describing clause about the man, 'who was carrying...'. After a verb of seeing, Arabic uses this present form to paint the action as in-progress at the moment of witnessing. So it depicts the man caught mid-act of carrying.
