Arabic vocabulary
How to say “children” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَنْجَبَ مِنْ زَوْجَتِهِ الْأُولَى عَشَرَةً أَوْلَادٍ،
He had ten children by his first wife.
أَوْلَادٍ — children. The counted noun after 'ten', and numbers from three to ten take their counted noun as a plural in the after-a-number ('of') case — literally 'ten of children'. The plural-and-genitive pattern here contrasts with the singular the teens require.
