الأُولَى — first. 'ula' = 'first'; describes 'your choices'.

الأُولَى — the first. 'the first,' the feminine ordinal agreeing with 'strike,' in the -i form. During the FIRST strike removing the ring is merely recommended — a contrast the next sentence sharpens, where it becomes obligatory.

الأُولَى — the first. This is an ordinal carrying 'the', 'the first', in its feminine shape to agree with the feminine noun before it. Arabic ordinals match the gender of what they describe, so this feminine form pairs with the feminine 'emergence'.

الْأُولَى — The first. This is an ordinal carrying 'the' in its feminine shape, 'the first', agreeing with the feminine 'trait' understood from before. As a definite noun it heads the sentence as the topic, labelling the first of the four traits.
