Arabic vocabulary
بارِدٍ is how you say “coldness” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وينبغي أن يصلح حاره ببارده،
And its hotness should be balanced with its coldness.
بِبَارِدِهِ — with its coldness. Here the prefix bi- 'with, by means of' opens the word and forces the noun into the possessed ending, while the attached -hi 'its' closes it; so one word means 'with its coldness'. The bi- marks the instrument used to do the balancing, and -hi again refers back to the food.
