And if they had been guided, they would have known that the divine decree commanded us.
أُمرنا — commanded us. A past-tense verb carrying a tail -na, 'us', as object, 'commanded us'. It serves as the predicate of the reported clause, stating what the decree did, with the object pronoun fused onto the verb to name those it bound.
