Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they would have known” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَوْ هُدُوا لَعَلِمُوا أَنَّ الْقَدَرَ أَمَرَّنَا
And if they had been guided, they would have known that the divine decree commanded us.
لَعَلِمُوا — they would have known. This carries a result-marking prefix, 'then/surely', on a past verb with a 'they' subject, 'they would have known'. The prefix flags the apodosis of the counterfactual, naming what would have followed had they been guided.
