Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the decree” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَوْ هُدُوا لَعَلِمُوا أَنَّ الْقَدَرَ أَمَرَّنَا
And if they had been guided, they would have known that the divine decree commanded us.
القِدْرُ — the divine decree. The al- makes this 'the decree' specific, and gripped by the 'that' particle before it, it takes the accusative as the topic of the reported clause. It names the subject the clause asserts something about, the decree as a force.
