How to say “crowded” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَازْدَحَمَ عَلَيْهِ أَهْلُ بَغْدَادِ،
So the people of Baghdad crowded around him,
فَازْدَحَمَ — so crowded. A past-tense verb 'crowded' with fa- on front giving 'so/then they crowded'. Notice the verb stays singular though the doers are many: when the verb comes before its subject, Arabic keeps it singular and lets the following noun carry the number. fa- chains this to the prior scene.
