How to say “dark” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مُظْلِمَةٍ مَطِرَةٍ وَقَدْ نَزَلَ أَبُو سُفْيَانُ
It was a dark, rainy night, and Abu Sufyan had arrived.
مظْلمَة — dark. Another describing word for the same night, again in the feminine singular to agree with it. Arabic can simply stack adjectives one after another with no 'and' between them, so this piles a second quality onto the night already called cold. The matching feminine ending keeps it tied to the same noun.
