How to say “deception” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
غير أنه زينها وطفل الهوى ذو اغترار،
Yet, He adorned it, and the child of desire is prone to deception,
اغْتِرَارٍ — deception. An abstract noun in the genitive because it is owned by the 'possessed-of' word just before it, completing 'possessed of deception'. The lack of 'the' marks it as indefinite, presenting deception as a general trait rather than one specific instance, which is how Arabic conveys 'prone to deception'.
