Arabic vocabulary
النُّقْصَانِ is how you say “decrease” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَإِنَّمَا يَعْرِفُ الزِّيَادَةُ مِنَ النُّقْصَانِ الْمُحَاسِبُ لِنَفْسِهِ
Only the one who holds himself accountable can distinguish increase from decrease.
النُّقْصَانِ — decrease. A definite noun, 'decrease', in the 'of'-style ending because the preposition before it governs it. It is the second member of the contrast, set against 'increase'. The pairing is what only the self-reckoning person, named next, can rightly tell apart.
