How to say “desert” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الْحبّ غَدِير فِي صحراء لَيست عَلَيْهِ جادة
Love is a spring in the desert without a path leading to it.
صَحْرَاءَ — the desert. In the genitive after 'in', but a non-bending (diptote) noun, so it takes '-a' with no tanwin where '-in' would be expected. The bare '-a' flags it as one of the words that refuse the full case-endings.
