How to say “difference” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ مَا الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَهُمَا؟
He said, "What is the difference between the two of them?"
الْفَرْقُ — the difference. This definite noun is the thing being asked about, standing in the basic (nominative) shape as the topic of the question. Its 'the' marks the specific difference in view. The plain ending shows that nominative role.
