Arabic vocabulary
غَائِصٌ is how you say “diver” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
والغَائِصُ فِي بَحْرِ فِكْرِهِ عَلَى نَفَائِسِ الدُّرِّ
And he who plunges into the sea of his thought in search of rare pearls.
والغَائِصُ — and the diver. An active participle 'the diver/plunger' carrying both wa- and al-. The wa- adds another epithet to the praise-run; the al- makes the participle definite as a title. It names him, figuratively, as one who plunges, heading the metaphor spelled out next.
