Arabic vocabulary
How to say “drinking” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا أَكْثَرَ شُرْبًا الْمُسْكِرِ،
And he said, I used to be a man who often drank intoxicants.
شرب — of drinking. This is an action-noun, the naming form of a verb, here 'drinking' treated as a thing. It comes in the accusative as the specifier after the comparative word, the slot Arabic uses to pin down exactly what someone is 'more' of. So instead of a clause 'who drank more', the language stacks a comparative plus this bare action-noun.
