Arabic vocabulary
How to say “erase” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ كَسَبَ شُبْهَةً يَأْمُلُ أَنْ يَمْحُوهَا بِالْوَرَعِ،
And whoever acquires a doubtful gain hopes to erase it by piety.
يَمْحُوهَا — erase it. A present-tense 'he' verb in its subjunctive shape, triggered by the 'to' particle before it, with -ha ('it') attached as its object pointing back to the doubtful gain. The subjunctive ending is the fingerprint of that particle, marking the wiping-out as the hoped-for aim.
