Arabic vocabulary
How to say “hope” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ كَسَبَ شُبْهَةً يَأْمُلُ أَنْ يَمْحُوهَا بِالْوَرَعِ،
And whoever acquires a doubtful gain hopes to erase it by piety.
يَأْمُلُ — he hopes. A present-tense 'he' verb with its subject in the prefix, here the response to the condition: what 'whoever acquires...' then does. It opens a 'that...' clause with the particle following, naming the hope that such a person entertains.
