Arabic vocabulary
How to say “fasted” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
والصائم هو الذي صامت جوارحه عن الآثام،
The fasting person is the one whose limbs abstain from sins,
صَامَتْ — they abstained. A past-tense verb 'fasted / abstained' with the feminine '-at' tail because its subject, 'limbs', is a non-human plural treated as feminine singular. So the verb stays singular-feminine even though 'limbs' is plural.
