Arabic vocabulary
How to say “father” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالُوا يَا أَبَتِ كَيْفَ نَحْتَالُ
They said, "O father, how shall we devise a plan?"
أَبَتِ — father. A noun being called out under the address-word, here 'father'; its short ending is the special form a noun takes when paired with 'my' in direct address. It is the one being summoned, not a subject or object of any verb.
