Arabic vocabulary
How to say “female cat” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَتَى بُهْرَةً وَالْجُرَذُ يَحْفِرُ وَلَا يَكْتَرِثُ بِالْهِرَّةِ
So a female cat came, and the rat was digging and did not pay attention to the cat.
بُهْرَةً — a female cat. An indefinite noun (no 'the') wearing the object-style ending, marking it as what came onto the scene. The light -n sound at its end is Arabic's way of signalling 'a/an', so the word itself says 'a cat' without a separate article.
