Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the rat” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَتَى بُهْرَةً وَالْجُرَذُ يَحْفِرُ وَلَا يَكْتَرِثُ بِالْهِرَّةِ
So a female cat came, and the rat was digging and did not pay attention to the cat.
وَالْجُرَذُ — and the rat. A wa- here switches from coordinating events to opening a side-scene ('meanwhile the rat...'); it introduces a circumstance running alongside the main action. The definite noun after it is the subject of that backdrop clause.
