أَمَا نَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَعْلَمَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَأَقَامَهُ،
Could the man not have known his station and remained there?
لِلرَّجُلِ — for the man. One word for the 'to/for' preposition plus a noun keeping its 'the': 'for the man'. It marks the man as the one for whom the thing was (or was not yet) due, governed by the preposition.
