Arabic vocabulary
How to say “force” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدًا أَيْمَانَهُمْ
And they swore by God with the full force of their oaths.
جَهْدًا — with force. A noun in the object case used adverbially to describe how the swearing was done, 'with utmost effort'. Arabic frequently turns a noun into an adverb just by giving it the object case, where English needs 'with' plus the noun.
