Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they swore” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدًا أَيْمَانَهُمْ
And they swore by God with the full force of their oaths.
وَأَقْسَمُوا — and they swore. The 'and' is a prefix; the verb is past tense and its ending already encodes a plural 'they' subject, so no separate pronoun is needed. The built-in plural is how Arabic marks who swore.
