Arabic vocabulary
How to say “from us/some of us” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فمنا من يصلح خباءه،
Some of us were fixing our tents.
فَمِنَّا — Some of us. This is fa- (so) joined to the preposition 'from/of' fused with 'us', so the cluster means 'so among us'. It opens a 'some of us... did X' frame: the preposition marks a portion drawn out of the group, and the whole sets up a partitive statement.
From: A Prophet Warns His People →ومنا من ينتضل،
Some of us were practicing archery.
وَمِنَّا — Some of us. This is wa- (and) on the preposition 'of' fused with 'us', 'and among us', opening another 'some of us...' clause. The preposition marks a further portion of the group, parallel to the earlier one.
From: A Prophet Warns His People →ومنا من هو في جشره،
Some of us were tending to their animals.
وَمِنَّا — Some of us. Again wa- (and) on 'of' fused with 'us', 'and among us', introducing yet another portion of the group in the same partitive frame as before.
