Arabic vocabulary
How to say “gouge them out” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ عَيْنَيْكَ أَفْقِئْهُمَا أَوْ جَمِيعَ مَا تَمْلِكُ
He said, "Gouge out your two eyes, or everything you own."
أفقؤهما — gouge them out. A command form, 'gouge!', with a dual object pronoun '-huma' (the two of them) attached, matching the two eyes. The verb carries its 'you' subject inside and its object on its tail. Arabic again uses a special 'exactly two' pronoun to keep the count consistent across the sentence.
