Arabic vocabulary
How to say “you possess” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ عَيْنَيْكَ أَفْقِئْهُمَا أَوْ جَمِيعَ مَا تَمْلِكُ
He said, "Gouge out your two eyes, or everything you own."
تَمْلِكُ — you possess. A present-tense verb with the 'you' (singular) subject built into its prefix, 'you own'. No separate 'you' is written; the prefix names the addressee. It completes the relative clause, telling what the 'all' refers to.
